Title: 5 simple steps to making your website irresistible.

Your website is a vital selling tool and representation of your business, so why would you let it stagnate? The attraction factor of your website is a living thing; it needs care and attention to keep it achieving its maximum potential 24/7.

1. Keep it simple

Probably one of the most annoying points about the internet is how complex some websites are to use. Menu systems that only work if you have XYZ browser installed, login and registration pages which require knowing what you had for breakfast this morning! Sometimes it all gets a bit too much.

If you can simplify the process, then do so. Why have 3 clicks of the mouse button when one will do. This will keep your website visitors happy and give them more time to read about your products and services rather than working out to use your website in the first place.

2. Blogs and RSS Feeds

Blogs can help you get better search engine placements. Search engines like blogs because they are frequently updated, have lots of incoming and outgoing links and contain large portions of text.

A blog can be seamlessly integrated into your site's e-commerce. That means you can sell products and services by pointing blog visitors to your site's sales sections.

Blogs can bring in business. Blogs bring you closer to prospects and customers alike, who get to know you through the blog and are therefore one step closer to doing business with you.

3. Call to action (CTA)

A website is task focused. You need to help your customers complete their key task as quick and effectively as possible.

Your website should have a strong purpose; subscribing to a newsletter, register for content, enquiring about your services or simply to buy something.

Almost every page on your website should have a CTA to ensure the content of the page has a purpose and evokes your potential client to do something with it.

Have you got call to actions? Are they clearly visible, readable and targeted to drive a particular action from a visitor?

4. Stay in touch

Underestimating the power of your current client base is a problem which many businesses face. Your current clients are already buyers, they have already spent money with you – so why wouldn’t they again?

Staying in touch is so simple, but yet many companies simply don’t take the time to do it! Using an email newsletter to keep your clients up-to-date with current news, product launches and special offers is an absolute must.

You can have an online newsletter set up and ready to send within 1 day, which could potentially bring you a whole month of sales leads! You can even track how many people read it and then click through to your website.

5. Make sure to wash behind your ears

Even though you’re keeping in contact with your customers, writing blogs and have some CTAs on your website doesn’t mean you have abstracted the total potential of your website.

Take a step closer and really have a deep look to make sure you’re clean! Your customers will appreciate a website which doesn’t have; broken links (i.e. links that don’t work), images that won’t load and text which is unreadable because it’s in a strange font – these are only some of the factors which need to be addressed and rectified!

Hope this helps you out with your website!

Lawrence,

I don't think your (or my)  potential clients are likey to be reading this forum.

Re. point 5 - add to that validate your pages to a recognised web standard to largely eliminate cross-browser hassles.
