Title: Will this forum achieve anything?

So far it sems that people are using it to advertise their services or stick up a couple of links. As we are all inthe same sector while our clients lie outwith this sector I don't see what this will achieve.

I presume it is intended as a platform for people in the same business sector to discuss common issues . . .  but there are already several fora for that, so how can we make this one work?

Hi Webcraft

Was thinking the same - I have posted a couple of guides which might help some "newbie's" out, but apart from that I can see little value from a business lead generation purpose.

I think only time will tell as hopefully more members are attracted.

I do feel as if tradespaces is aimed more at "trade" people, such as builders, plumbers, etc - rather than creative technology people such as ourselves. Again we will wait and see - but I am happy with a couple of on topic links back to my site.

Cheers.

Hate to be negative, but I can't see anything useful coming out of this forum so far. Propellor-heads generally aren't going to ask for help unless it's anonymous, otherwise there's a risk in the knowledge-driven economy that confidence in your ability to "do stuff" will be knocked.

The most useful post I've seen here is the SEO specialist offering to partner web designers. Might be the crumbs that make investment here worthwhile....

I have to agree with you, it looks like it will be nothing but useless advertising posts.

Then again hopefully time will weed out most of those who only want links and the rest of us can have a decent discussion forum.

Hi all!

I wonder whether it's just that 'Internet and Computing' is just to vast a topic area. Perhaps smaller niche communities or forums would be better and more beneficial.

For example, we have a'Website review' community, which is primarily aimed at members that are seeking a bit of advice about their company website. Website designers and SEO experts pop along and provide a bit of free advice and from what I know, have picked up business as a result.

Open to ideas and your thoughts.
