Title: Race for Life Challenge

Hi All! my first ever post here so I aplogise now. For my sins I am co-ordinating the BT Race for Life Challenge to recognise all the BT women taking part in their local events and total the amount we raise. The BT Tradespace Community is here to help people attending network with new people and hopefully get to participate in the race together. It doesn't matter if you work for BT or not . The idea is for us to support Cancer Research with their larger challenge and hopefully bring people to the party who may not have thought of it before. It doesn't matter if you have registered already you can still be part of our challenge. When you join the comunity we will count you as a member of our 'team'. I thank you all for your support . Let us know here your story ie why you are racing, your training tips, other charitable things you are involved with etc.

Hi. I have signed up for the Bedford Race For Life! It's be my first attempt at anything like this! having been on a health kick over the last 6 months I thought it would be a good challenge. I'm entering with my 8 year old daughter who will literally run rings round me!

I am going to take part in memory of a friend and colleague, Christine Duncan who was taken from us in 2006.

Any tips you can give me on making it round the course in one piece will be appreciated!

Hi

I am doing the Blackheath Race for Life with my daughter who is 6. Part of the reason of doing it together apart from teaching her about the concept of raising money for charity is that becuase she is so young we will have to walk!   We may I suppose do 10 jogs, 10 steps etc. Tip wise I suggest you wear good trainers and drink a good lot of water on the way round.

Has any one out there done a race already? Any tips of doing it with young ones?

I have put my name down for the Carlisle Midnight Walk but i will be honest its not something i'm looking forward to unless the weather improves!!  I was thinking of seeing if my 7 year old daughter would like to come with us but i have a feeling she'll get too tired!  I haven't had anything through tho from the organisers so i'm not sure if we're doing it - it was a company thing that the PR girl was supposed to be organising but its all gone a bit quiet.  It would be good if it still happens tho.

I just completed the Dundee Race for Life - It was incredible !  What a sense of achievement ( though in fairness, there were 4 year olds beating me !! )  What a great atmosphere and I was astonished how much money we raised for this truly worthwhile charity.

I urge everyone to give it a go - I'm wearing my medal with pride !

Amanda

Well done! What did you do to train or are you generally fit? I don't do anything except run after 3 young children so am sure I am going to struggle.

Has anyone taken their children on the course? my duaghter is 6 - any advice on getting her ready?

I am doing a 2-3 mile power walk 3 times a week and hope that I'll at least make it round the course in one piece! My 8 year old daughter is trying to get me to run the Race but I think it's a bit too late for that! Three weeks to go!
