eBay Sellers - YOUR COMMENTS URGENTLY REQUIRED

Hi Guys, I note that at the moment there are 579 eBAY SELLERS on this site.  I am interested to know your thoughts on the way eBAY is forcing us all into a corner with all their NEW rules. The latest one being that certain items can only be listed offering PayPal as a method of payment, i'm certain that you are all aware that eBay owns PayPal, I have also read that in Australia they have made PayPal as the only accepted method of payment, so it is just a question of time before we in the UK are forced into the same means of accepting payments. I for one will never accept PayPal, mainly because they always favour the buyer and not the seller in any dispute and the seller always looses out financialy. Also I accept Debit / Credit card payment direct, so why should I have to pay more money to sell on eBay as well as the additional eBay fees and then RISK if I were to accept PayPal that I would never be paid for the item that I have sent to the buyer. eBay sellers we must all stick together and use this site ( BT Tradespace ) as our means of selling our goods. as I understand BT T are looking into the possibility of splitting their site into two sections i.e. for those members offering SERVICES and for those SELLING GOODS, this can only help us sellers. I look forward to reading your commments.   Regards Ken - antiques et cetera

Title: Shopping with peace of mind - Are they having a laugh

As we announced before, all listings on eBay.co.uk will soon need to offer PayPal as a Safe Payment method. This is so that buyers have the choice of purchase protection on every item they buy.

Over 95% of listings on eBay.co.uk now offer PayPal. If you don’t already offer it on yours, we’d strongly recommend you sign up now. We’ll update you soon on the final deadline for the requirement to offer PayPal on your listings.

We hope you’ll support these changes. They’ll create a safer marketplace where buyers are more confident and which rewards sellers giving good service.

Regards,

The eBay team

Hi Ken,

Yes they are having a laugh.

I HAD been an eBay seller for 8-9 years. Their new policies are just unreasonable. Sellers can't leave negative - Since that stupid rule I had approx 25% - 28% non paying bidders as opposed to the 2%-5% before the stupid policy. And as for the Paypal issue - I did accept Paypal but I don't like to be told what payment methods I can accept. I was a reputable seller (I say WAS because I have found a good Alternative to eBay, not because I am no longer reputable) but I wouldn't always accept Paypal if the item I was offering for sale was low value and the postage high.

I could go on and on but I am happy now I am selling on www.groovycart.co.uk

There is a lovely community of online shops selling, Jewellery, Collectables, Vintage Dolls & Toys, Comics, Trading Cards, Retro, Office Accessories etc.

GroovyCart is Free with no set-up, listing or end fees.
